This was such a gem that we almost missed. Our last day to see anything we might have missed and I thought, “What the heck, let’s give it a look.”

The family acquired a vast collection of European and oriental art during their time in Europe, which was used to decorate the palace upon their return. In 1937, the building and its collection became a museum for the public after the state acquired it following the death of Josefina de Alvear.“
